Assistant Coach - Field Hockey
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include supervision of 9-12th graders during practices and games. Coach will be responsible for all phases of preparation for competition, monitoring and committing to student athlete academic progress, uniform care, distribution and pick-up at the end of the season. Maggie Walker seeks a person who has demonstrated success in program development, including the ability to attract campus and community support. Must possess good communication, leadership skills, be resourceful and flexible.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of Field Hockey coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level or 4 years experience at the club level. Successful applicant must be able to demonstrate techniques and present materials relevant to Field Hockey. Bachelor’s degree required.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Possess, or be able to qualify for, a valid Virginia Driver’s License and possess a good driving record. The incumbent will be required to travel to other geographic locations and work some evenings and weekend hours.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Interact with students on individual basis and in group setting; must be capable of performing a wide variety of coaching activities; incumbent must be capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs. in a safe manner; and occasionally work in excess heat, cold, dampness or dry atmospheric conditions.
SALARY COMPENSATION:
Salary is commensurate with experience and years of coaching.
ELIGIBILITY TO WORK:
Background investigation and Tuberculosis test required prior to employment. Coach must take and pass a concussion test, and the VHSL Basic Coaching course.
