Athletics
Welcome to MLWGS Athletics!
Maggie L. Walker Governor's School sponsors a wide variety of varsity
and junior varsity sports teams for both boys and girls, where over
95% of student athletes earned All Academic status with a grade
point average of 3.0 or better. We compete on the Virginia High
School League (VHSL) AAA level in the Colonial District, which includes
the following additional schools: Douglas Freeman, John Marshall,
Thomas Jefferson, Mills Godwin, Patrick Henry, J.R. Tucker, Hermitage
and Deep Run high schools.
All sports participants must have a completed VHSL Eligibility
form, including a physical exam, on file with the school's Activity
Director prior to the first practice date to be eligible to practice
and tryout. Physicals for the school year must be taken after May
1st. You are strongly encouraged to take care of completing eligibility
forms as early as possible. You need to complete only one VHSL Eligibility
form for the school year regardless of the number of sports in which
you plan to participate. VHSL Eligibility forms are available at
the school or you may download them from the VHSL

Without the help of the Athletic
Boosters, MLWGS' biggest Dragon fans, the athletic program would
not be as comprehesive. Our Dance
Team also adds to the spirit of the basketball games with their
athletic dance moves.
